Dear Friend of Montreat College,

At the beginning of this new year, it's a good time to look back and see
the ways in which God has been faithful to Montreat College in 2004. It
was an exciting year.

The biggest event was certainly the search for and appointment of a new
president. In January, candidates came to meet with faculty, staff, and
students; on January 28, the Board of Trustees unanimously agreed to
accept the presidential search committee's recommendation to appoint Dr.
Dan Struble as the college's seventh president.

In April Dr. Struble moved to Montreat with his wife, Dr. Karen Struble,
and two children, Mandi and Ben. He started right to work on April 22
and was officially inaugurated on August 28 at the fall welcoming
convocation. Since that time he has been hard at work on a strategic
plan for the college's stabilization and growth, and he has actively and
significantly participated in the college's fund-raising efforts.

Dr. Struble spoke at the opening convocation for the spring semester.
During that speech, he looked back on some highlights of his first full
term at Montreat College. Click on this link to read the full text of
that speech: http://www.montreat.edu/president/ .

Here are a few other highlights of 2004 at Montreat College:

*	The Fine Arts Theatre Series entered its second year with an
even stronger presence and high-quality productions, and the Friends of
Music Series brought in many gifted performers as well. Both of these
programs will continue to entertain and enrich the Montreat community in
the coming year.
*	The School of Professional and Adult Studies (SPAS) program
celebrated its 10th year in Charlotte on October 1. Also in October,
Montreat College's Charlotte campus was profiled in a feature-length
article in Greater Charlotte Biz.
*	A new degree was added to the SPAS program: the Bachelor of
Science in Management.
*	President Struble's strategic planning process received a
tremendous amount of early support and input from the Montreat
community, and specific key parts of the plan are now being put into
place.

News releases of these kinds of events and much more are regularly added
to the News section of the Montreat College web page (www.montreat.edu

We look forward to seeing what God has for Montreat College in 2005!
